468,867. Surface - grinding machines. JUNG, K., (trading as JUNG MASCHINENFABRIK, K.). March 17, 1936, No. 8026. Convention date, July 19, 1935. [Class 60] In a surface-grinding machine comprising a grinding-wheel 3 on a pedestal 2, beneath which the work is moved on a rotating table 5 carried by a reciprocating carriage 4, the speed of rotation of the table is diminished with increasing radius, and the speed of the carriage is correspondingly diminished, and vice versa, in order to maintain the radial feed constant, so that grinding proceeds in an archimedean spiral. The base 1 of the machine has therein gearing 8 driven from an electric motor 6, and the table 5 and the carriage 4 are driven from the gearing 8 by worm gear 10 and rack gear 11, 12, respectively. The speeds of the drive are controlled by control of the gearing 8 by means of a strap 23 moved by a lever on a shaft 21 which is moved, through bevel gearing 20 and a shaft 19 carrying a lever 18, by a cam 15 on the carriage provided with a cam slot engaging a roller 17 on the lever 18. The speeds of the table and the carriage are controlled independently by levers 14, 13.
