1376485 Wood slicing machine MARUNAKA TEKKOSHO Inc 29 June 1972 30385/72 Heading B5L A machine for slicing wood 5, Fig. 1, longitudinally comprises a stationary table consisting of a plurality of rollers 4 which are freely rotatable about axes normal to the feed direction of the wood, a vertically adjustable stock feed unit 10 having a driven belt 17 for advancing the wood over the rollers 4, and a slicer knife unit 139, Fig. 6, mounted on the table and having a slicer knife 140 whose edge is located at an acute angle to the direction of feed of the wood. As described the unit 10, Fig. 1, is vertically adjustable along pillars 8, 9 by a handle 30 or motor 34 driving a shaft 29 which via bevel gears 31, 32 rotates a shaft 33 threaded into the housing 10a of the unit 10. A motor 12 on the housing 10a drives a pulley 15 for the belt 17. The lower run of the belt is urged downwardly by resiliently mounted rollers 19. Further rollers, e.g. 50, may be provided level with the rollers 4 to enable the wood 5 to be fed, after slicing, back along a rectangular path to its initial position ready for further slicing. The height H of the belt 17 above the rollers 4 is adjusted after each slicing so that the belt contacts the upper face of the wood to feed it. The angle between the blade edge and the direction of wood feed may be 15 to 30 degrees.
