Abstract

1,168,367. Peeling apparatus. PROMOCI. 27 Nov., 1967 [2 Oct., 1967], No. 53914/67. Heading B3T. [Also in Division B5] Apparatus for cutting sheet from a cylindrical body of material such as rubber comprises a tank 2 in which the rubber body 1 is rotatably mounted, a driven roller 5 which engages the body 1 to effect its rotation and cutting means in the form of a band-saw 6 which moves transversely to the direction of the cut and peels a sheet of rubber from the surface of the body as it rotates. The saw edge is adjustable, to control the thickness of the sheet, in a direction lying at 11 degrees to a plane containing the axes of the driving roller and the cylindrical body. The body is supported on a shaft in the tank which contains water, the shaft ends engaging grooves 3 in the side walls of the tank and chain feed means is provided to draw the rubber body to the driving roller and cutting saw.
