Abstract

1381391 Valves GERARD PITTS & CO 6 Feb 1973 [1 Feb 1972] 4675/72 Heading F2V In a tap for fitting to a cask of beer, sherry, or the like a closure member 30 is supported in a cylindrical housing by a pin 42 engaging helical slots 27 such that rotation of the handle 53 about the housing axis produces an axial movement of the closure member relative to the seat 24. The member 30 is provided with air vents 37 and 52 to facilitate a clean end to the dispensing operation. The member 30 is provided with a flange 35 for sealing with the housing or may carry a resilient sleeve-like seal which acts as a seal between the member and the housing and for the seal between member and seat 24. The member above the seal is provided with a drainage channel leading into the member and hence to the output via the aperture at the bottom end of the member. The tap may be of plastics material.
