Abstract

1,010,046. Pipe couplings. CARLSBERG BRYGGERIERNE. June 4, 1964 [June 8, 1963], No. 23279/64. Heading F2G. An extractor for beer kegs comprises a cover 1 with a downwardly extending flange socket 2 to which an extractor cup 4 is secured by means of a bayonet joint 3 the extractor cup being of larger diameter than the socket to provide a channel 5 communicating with the inside of the keg, a spigot 14 and a spring-loaded valve 9. The valve 9 has a substantially quarter-circular seat 8 co-operating with a sealing ring 7 of circular cross-section and a quarter circular seat 6 in the flange 2 to seal the extractor. The spigot 14 has projections 15 to form a bayonet lock with recesses 16 in the cover and has a dispensing tube 17 provided with several slots 18 at one end and a quarter circular valve seat 20 above the slots. In operation the spigot is inserted in the socket to contact and lower the valve 9. The valve seat 8 extending slightly more than a quarter circle, carries the sealing ring with it until the ring contacts a seat 13 in the extractor cup 4. In the looked position of the spigot the seat 20 on the dispensing tube 17 contacts the ring 7, thus separating channel 5 from the interior of cup 4. Hence carbon dioxide passing through a channel 22, 23 in the spigot passes through the channel 5 and into the top of the keg to force beer up through the cup 4, through the slots 18 and up through the spigot 14.
