A tap of plastics material for use with a liquid container 22, also of plastics material, consists of hollow plug 11 rotatable by a finger piece 19 to move an aperture 21 relative to an outlet 17 in a body 10 which is formed with a tubular portion 14 for insertion into an opening in the container, a flange 13 for engagement with a flange 24 surrounding the opening, a shoulder 25 for engagement with the inside of the container, and one or more ribs 26 to make a seal with the container opening. The container may be enclosed within a cardboard &c. casing have an inner lid with an opening for projection of the tap,- and an outer cover may be provided to protect the tap during transport &c.
