A container, e.g. for paint, has a member 9 including a channel 5 of helical form enabling the liquid contents of the container to drain back into its interior, a cover for the container having a projection which is received within the channel 5 to form a seal. The member 9 may be of metal or plastics, and the cover may be in the form of a friction lid, Fig. 5 (not shown), a screw top, or a plug member. A bead 8 on the member 9 serves as a brush-wiper.
