Abstract

1,200,469. Metal cans. ETABS. J. B. GABRIELS S.P.R.L. 22 Nov., 1967 [30 May, 1967], No. 53168/67. Heading B8D. A cylindrical metal can 1 has an outwardly curled lip 6 under which is snapped the inner band 14 of a two-part flexible band plastics handle 14, 15, the two bands being united at diametrically opposite sides 20, 21 so that the outer band 19 can be pulled up to form two handle portions. A lid 3 having a sealing gasket 4 is pushed into the can mouth, and has a central transparent plastics window 22 through which the colour &c. of the can contents can be seen. The gasket 4 may be lubricated. One can 1 can be stacked in the lid 3 of a like can 1 below, as shown. Can bodies, lids, handles &c. as described may be put together in an automatic assembly line, Fig. 11 (not shown).
