Abstract
1380023 Casting processes; making electrodes and tubing MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO KK 18 Jan 1973 [28 Jan 1972] 2720/73 Headings B3F and B3A [Also in Division H5] In a process for producing metallic tubes 10 by electroslag remelting of consumable electrodes 2 in a mould, the electrodes 2 are obtained by splitting a used metallic tube. The mould consists of inner and outer parts 3 and 4 defining therebetween an annular space. The starter bar 6 and thus the cast tube 10 may be rotated or reciprocated by a motor 12. A film 14 of slag on the casting acts as a lubricant. The used tube may be split longitudinally into eight sections having arcuate cross-sections. Each section may constitute one electrode or two or more sections may be joined together to produce an electrode of greater length. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,250,910.
