Abstract
1326031 Extruding; making extruding dies; casting composite tubes BROOKES (OLDBURY) Ltd 19 April 1971 [4 March 1970] 10310/70 Headings B3A B3F and B3P A method of manufacturing a double-barrel extruder 10 comprises the steps of providing a layer of wear resistant material 13 of non- uniform thickness in the bore of each of two tubular bodies, e.g. 14, Fig. 2, by centrifugal casting, removing a portion of each body so as to form a slot 19, and connecting the bodies together, Fig. 1. The bore of each body is produced by boring along an eccentric axis 11, pellets of the wear resistant material are inserted into the bore and with the ends blanked off, the body is placed in a furnace until the pellets are molten whereupon the body is removed and rotated at a high speed about an axis 12 thus forming a non-uniform layer of material. Each body is milled so as to provide slots 19, and the bodies are then welded together.
