1342435 Making delay lines LENINGRADSKY ELEKTROTEKHNICHESKY INSTITUT SVYAZI IMENI PROFESSORA MA BONCH-BRUEVICHA 11 Jan 1972 1180/72 Heading B3A [Also in Division C7] A method of making an acoustic line for an electro-mechanical delay line comprises melting an alloy and heat treating the alloy prior to fabricating the acoustic line. A nickel-iron alloy or carbon steel may be used in this process. In the first case the alloy is melted using a plasma arc and the heat treatment comprises hardening at 900‹-1000 ‹C. followed by tempering at 600‹-840‹ C. In the second case, the steel is twice melted using an electro-slag process which is followed by the same heat treatment as in the previous example.
