Abstract

1379776 Modelling poultry during packaging APPARATENBOUW MOBA NV 8 Sept 1972 [10 Sept 1971] 41736/72 Heading B8C A device for packing poultry in a bag is provided with a modeller comprising a first member 64 and two pivotally mounted members 65 which members 64, 65 form a tube when members 65 are in their closed position. A chicken is suspended by its leg joints on hooks 15 and are held in position by members 30 on levers 23. The cloaca of the chicken is contacted and pressed downwardly by a pressure member 77 on a rod 19, which is vertically movable in a sleeve 17. The hooks 15, levers 23 and sleeve 17 are mounted on a subframe 8 which is lowered relative to a main frame 1, as the whole moves along a conveyer 11, by means of a roller 9 co-operating with a descending track 10. The chicken enters the modeller with the members 65 in their open position, a pressure plate 75 is swung inwardly by a control roller 73 and guide 74 to press the chicken against the member 64, and the members 65 are pivoted inwardly to press the wings against the trunk through the agency of an ascending track 59 and follower roller 58. Upon leaving the modeller, the chicken is placed in a bag held on a retaining member 78 and the legs are folded against the breast by further downward movement of the claws 15 which are then opened and withdrawn. The Specification describes in detail the assemblies for operating the claws 15, levers 32, rod 19 and the modeller 64, 65.
