The fingers 21 are each pivoted at 20 and have each a tail 23 connected by a pin 24 and slot to a common actuating ring 25 within the casing. This ring is coupled to a linkage 26, 28 and, as the head is lowered, a roller 29 co-operates with a fixed cam 30 to rotate the ring 25 and thus pivot the fingers away from each other. The head descends far enough to withdraw the fingers from the applied cap before rising again.
