Relates to machines in which bottles 1 are carried by a rotating table 8 beneath a cap-feed 17 and then to a sealing head in which jawhalves 2, 6 are moved to embrace the neck and have inturned flanges underlying the neck bulge 7, a pressure ram 3 then descending to cause the cap skirt to move down and be crimped under the bulge by the flanges. According to the invention, the jaw-halves 2, 6 are carried at the lower ends of levers 9, 10 pivoted on horizontal axes 12, 11 extending in the direction in which the bottles are fed, the levers being actuated to open and close the jaws in synchronism with the bottle feed by cams operated directly or indirectly by the main drive of the machine. The pressure ram 3 is also actuated synchronously with the bottle feed. Closures. A rubber stopper 5 is inserted in the bottle neck and a light metal capsule 4, which may have a tear-off part in its upper surface for insertion of a syringe, is crimped over the neck bulge 7.
