Projectiles; projectile fuses.-Relates to projectiles provided with helical vanes R, R pivoted cn, longitudinal axes S, S and adapted, during the flight of the projectile, to swing out from recesses T. According to the invention, (1) the vanes are normally held in place by a ring or piece V of combustible material such as celluloid, which is ignited and burnt away when the projectile is discharged; and (2) thevanes are made to uncover holes W, W, so that,. if the projectile falls into water, the water enters, a perforated tube Z containing metallic potassium or calcium phosphide for exploding the projectile. The nose of the projectile may be fitted with an ordinary percussion or time fuse.
