Abstract

1378078 Pneumatic despatch tube junctions LAMSON ENG CO Ltd 16 May 1973 [18 May 1972] 23544/72 Heading B8A In a pneumatic despatch container system, at a junction between a stationary main tube and a secondary tube forming a branch therewith, the secondary tube supports a branch tube movable relative to the secondary tube in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the branch tube into direct communication with the main tube. In the Figure, branch tube 8, preferably of plastics material such as nylon with a magnetic portion 9 at the end farther from the junction 4, is moved into the junction (to divert containers between the main tube 1 and the secondary tube 2), by a spring, and is retracted by energization of a solenoid 10. A similar tube 3 is associated with the main tube and is normally in the position shown, but is retracted by energization of solenoid 7 before tube 8 is moved into the junction. An alternative embodiment is shown in Fig. 2 (not shown).
