Abstract

1377927 Fuel additive DREW CHEMICAL CORP 6 April 1973 [10 April 1972] 16669/73 Heading C5G An additive for vanadium-containing fuel oils comprises (a) a fuel oil-soluble compound of Mg, Al, Si, Ca, Sr, Ba or mixture thereof, and (b) a fuel oil-soluble compound of Zr or Ti, the components (a) and (b) being present in an amount to provide a weight ratio of Mg, Al, Si, Ca, Sr, Ba or mixtures thereof to Zr or Ti of from 2 : 1 to 15 : 1. A large number of compounds are given including the sulphonates, carboxylic acid salts, carbonyls, phenates, metalloporphyrines and metallocenes. The components (a) and (b) are dissolved in a liquid oil carrier and added to the fuel, e.g. marine diesel fuel, which also contain amines as stabilizers.
