Abstract
Procedure for the preparation of additives and motor fuels and, more particularly, for the preparation of a detergent additive composition, suitable for addition to gasoline, characterized in that it comprises the steps of providing: (1) 20 to 250 parts by weight of a C6 to C24 alkyl tertiary amine having further branching on the carbon chain; (2) 10 to 100 parts by weight of one or more surface-active derivatives alkylammonium carboxylate-ethoxylated and/or propoxylated alkylphenolic ester of a trimer or dimer acid, of the formula: **(See formula)** where, in the case of a single compound, n is a number between 1.5 and 12.5 or, in the case of a mixture of compounds, n is an average number of 1.5 to 12.5; in the case of a salt-ester derivative of a trimeric acid, x is 1 or 2, y is 1 or 2, where 3 is the sum of x and y; and in the case of the salt-ester derivative of a dimeric acid, x is 1, e y is 1; A is ethylene oxide or propylene oxide; R4 is an alkyl group containing from 4 to 12 carbon atoms; R5 is H or an alkyl group containing from 4 to 12 carbon atoms; R6 is an alkyl group containing from 2 to 24 carbon atoms and which may be straight-chain or branched or is an amine-substituted alkyl group of 2 to 24 carbon atoms; and Z is an acidic saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon residue, said hydrocarbon residue having 34 to 51 carbon atoms; and proceed to the joint incorporation of (1) and (2).
