Abstract

U-tube and like superheaters. - In a superheater having groups of tubes expanded into plates which are bolted or otherwise secured to the superheater headers, the plates are forged or pressed out in the form of a dome so that large groups of tubes may be connected to the headers without enlarging the openings in the headers. The circular tube-plates A, Figs. 2 and 4, has tapering sides, which fit into a tapering aperture in the circular header B. The tube holes K are normal to flat faces A<1> formed on the surface of the plate. The plate may be secured by a bolt C passing across the header, or by a bolt which screws into a cross-piece engaging with a band passing around the header. In a modification, Figs. 7 and 9, the tube plate is rectangular and makes a face joint with the flat-faced header. The head of the securing bolt C, in this case, engages with a part of the header wall left between the openings.
