Abstract

174,426. Thompson, A. Oct. 21, 1920. Plates &c., securing tubes to.-Relates to means for securing superheater tubes and the like in pairs to their headers, of the type described in Specifications 12334/11 and 125,338. A plate 1 having a plain clamping-face and bifurcated ends 4 have these ends pressed against flanges 6 formed on the ends of the tubes 5 by means of a nut screwed on a stud 3 which is secured to the header 9 and passes through a central hole in the clamping-plate. The ends 7 of the tubes fit in a fluid-tight manner in holes in the header, or packing may be interposed between the flanges 6 and the header. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 12334/11 and 11795/14.
