Abstract
1377418 Cutting tools J A HOUGH 13 June 1972 [16 June 1971] 27541/72 Heading B4B A cutting tool, e.g. secateurs, comprises two blades 1, 2 each pressed out of sheet material e.g. steel and provided with hardened shearing edge and a strengthening rib 9, 10 pressed into the blade so that the ribs of the two blades protrude away from each other each rib producing a broad transverse concavity or cupping on the inner face of the blade so that, in use, very little of the inner faces makes contact when the blades are reciprocated. The blades are pivoted on a pin 3 and normally held in the open position by a loop spring 7; alternatively a barrelshaped compression spring may be mounted on projections 21. The blades may be riveted to wooden or moulded plastics handles 4, 5 or the handle may be moulded directly on to the blades; the blades are preferably case hardened. Pressed-out tongues 15 are formed in the blades to act as stops.
