1377380 Vehicle-washing apparatus C F T BRIDGER 5 June 1972 [5 March 1971] 6196/71 Heading B7J A vehicle-washing device primarily for wash ing the underside of a vehicle comprises anozzle 1 for directing water on to a vehicle underside, the nozzle 1 being fixedly connected (preferably via a resiliently flexible elbow 2) to a pipe 6 substantially at right angles to the nozzle, a carriage (for movement of the device beneath a vehicle) formed by wheels 15 mounted on a flanged plate 13 on which the pipe 6 is mounted for pivoting about its longitudinal axis, a handle 7 connected to the pipe 6 and by means of which the pipe 6 may be pivoted, and water supply means formed by a hose 8 attached at 10 to a spigot on the end of the handle 7 which is hollow so that water flows through handle 7, pipe 6 and hollow elbow 2 to the nozzle 1. A tap 9 on the hose 8 and a gripping portion 12 adjacent the end of the handle 7 are provided for the operator. The nozzle 1 may supply either a "solid" jet of water or a spray of water droplets, or may be of a variable type providing alternatively jet or spray as required. In an alternative form, Fig. 4, the nozzle 1b, pipe 4b and handle 7b are of plastics material. The handle 7b is joined to pipe 4b by a connector 16 and has an enlarged portion 12b constituting a gripping portion on which a push-button 9b is provided to control water flow therethrough. The carriage of the device is a single wheel 15b oblique to the plane of pipe 4b and handle 7b, the wheel 15b being mounted on a lug (17), Fig. 6 (not shown), projecting from a plate (18) attached to the pipe 4b.
