Abstract
1406607 Spray producers; mixing projected streams F D CRUMP 22 Sept 1972 [22 Sept 1971] 44162/71 Headings B1C, B2F and B2L [Also in Division F2] In a spray gun which comprises at least two annular nozzles arranged concentrically around a further nozzle, fluid issuing under pressure from one of the annular nozzles entrains liguid issuing from the further nozzle. As shown in Fig 1 catalyst issues from a hollow needle 13, air issues from an annular nozzle around the needle 13, resin from a pipe 5 discharges through a nozzle 7 and air is supplied to a nozzle 4 from a pipe 8. The resin may entrain the central jet of catalyst or the air may entrain both the resin and catalyst. Difrerential pressure on a piston 16 is used to control the axial position of a sleeve 12 whereby in the forward position the tapered end 21 engages the surface 22 to close the nozzle 7. In this condition the outer end of the sleeve 12 projects beyond the nozzle 7 whereby air from the nozzle 4 can be used to clear material from the projecting surfaces. In the embodiment of Fig 9 catalyst issues from a spring biased hollow needle 106, resin issues from a nozzle 105 and air may be supplied to a nozzle 115 via inlet 116. This air supply may be used for cleaning the projecting surface 112 of the needle 106. In Fig 2 the spray gun 1 is mounted adjacent a nozzle 29A which is fed with fibrous reinforcement material 28 past an air driven chopper wheel 23. A control circuit is described, Fig 4 (not shown), in which actuation of the gun's trigger (38) operates a valve (36) which controls the supply of fluids to the gun.
