Abstract

1377309 Lamps GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 25 Feb 1972 [29 April 1971] 8890/72 'Heading F4R A direct current arc lamp 11 includes an elongated lead-in stem 13 housing the anode lead, the stem being arranged within a hollow collar 28 extending to the rear of a concave reflector 26, the stem being cemented to the rear of the collar. The reflector may be elliptical with rear focus f 1 at the arc. The anode and cathode electrodes 16, 17 may be welded to molybdenum foils 18, 19 within their respective stems 13, 14. A protective ceramic cap 43 may be cemented to the end of the device. The collar arrangement allows a longer anode lead-in stem reducing thermally induced fractures at the stem support.
