Abstract

1376111 Dolls M I GLASS [trading as MARVIN GLASS & ASSOCIATES] 10 Jan 1973 [22 Feb 1972] 1393/73 Heading A6S A doll having an upper torso portion 14 pivoted on a lower torso portion 16 so that the upper torso portion can twist to left and right on the lower portion, and its head 18 pivoted on the upper torso, has a spring motor 54 which both twists the upper torso portion and the head. The spring motor 54, which is wound by pulling a drawstring 56, drives through gears 64, &c to a shaft 68 and disk 86 carrying an eccentric pin 88. A recess 82 in the bottom of the upper torso portion 14 overlies the disk 86, on the top of the lower torso portion 16. The eccentric pin 88 slides along a radial slot 84 in the upper torso portion 14 as the disk 86 rotates, to twist the upper torso portion back-and-forth. The top of the pin 88 is connected by a link 92 to one or other of holes 96a &c in an arm 98 fast upon a tube 100 journalled through the doll's neck and fast with its head 18. Thus as the eccentric pin slides along the slot 84, it also twists the head 18. The arrangement is such that the twists of the head 18 lag 90 degrees behind the twists of the upper torso portion 14. A hairpiece 26 extends out through a hole in the top of the head 18 and is connected by a thread 114 to an adjusting spindle 116 having a control knob 122 at the back of the doll, turned to pull the hairpiece into the doll.
