Pulverulent-fuel furnaces; fuel, feeding.-In connexion with the supply of powdered fuel by means of an air current produced by a fan such as 5, the admission of air to the fan is determined by a hit-and-miss valve or the like 9, the position of which is controlled in accordance with the load on the plant and the amount of fuel being supplied by the fuel-feed screw 2. This is effected by connexion of the valve to a governor device 12 driven from the motor 3, which drives the fan and the fuel-feed screw 2, and the speed of which in turn is controlled, by means not described, in accordance with the load on the plant. In a modification, the fuel may be supplied above the fan instead of at its centre, and, in both forms, there may be a secondary supply of air controlled like the primary air by a valve such as 15.
