Abstract

967,268. Regulating; exhaust-driven pumps. MOTOREN-WERKE MANNHEIM A.G. Aug. 15 1962 [Aug. 16, 1961], No. 31384/62. Heading F1B. A valve 16 controlling an exhaust by-pass 20 of an exhaust driven turbocharger 3 of a gas engine is opened as engine load decreases to by-pass exhaust gas from the exhaust pipe 2 to the Venturi 21 in the blower air delivery pipe 5. The engine is a dual fuel engine with a diesel injection system for ignition when operating on gas and for full operation if the gas supply is insufficient, the oil and gas supplies being controlled by links connected to the mid-point 10 of a floating lever 8 connected at 9 to a governor 6 and at 13 to a changeover switch 14 which sets the point 13 either at the "gas" position or at the "diesel" position. When operating on gas, the gas valve is fully open for full torque when the point 10 is at position 11 and moves towards its idling position as point 10 moves towards the position 12, the by-pass valve 16 being simultaneously moved towards full open position to by-pass an increasing proportion of the exhaust gases.
