Abstract

136,839. Great Northern Paper Co., (Assignees of Pope, C. E.). March 14, 1918, [Convention date]. Fourdrinier paper-machines; guiding-mechanism; calendering; drying.-In transferring automatically the end of the pulp web from the wirecloth to the felt 14, a strip 7 is severed from the web by a jet of water from an adjustable nozzle 6 and is lifted from the couch roll 1 and transferred to the felt 14 by a pair of adjustable and removable air jets 12, 13 arranged transversely of the strip. The air jets may be applied also at the press rolls, the drying-cylinders, the calenders, or at any other suitable part of the paper-machine.
