Abstract
1368182 Electro-plating flexible wire cord KARL NEUMAYER ERZEUGUNG UND VERTRIEB VON KABELIN DRAHTEN ISOLIERTEN LEITUNGEN UND ELEKTROMATERIAL GmbH 10 Aug 1972 [16 Aug 1971] 37326/72 Heading C7B In producing a flexible cord from metal wires for screened cables or waveguides, aerial leads or coaxial conductors, the wires twisted into a flexible cord are electro-plated passing together through an electro-plating plant 20 whilst continuous movement is imparted relative to each wire by using two rollers one located vertically above the other, the lower being an idling roller 11 e.g. with individual guide wheels 13 in an electro-plating bath 1, the upper being a driving current-carrying roller 2 e.g. with grooves 12, the flexible cord transmitting the driving force from the driving roller to the idling roller. The wires may run partly without and/or with varying tension, and/or with varying curvature through the electro-plating plant. Preferably the driving roller 2 has a decreasing diameter in the axial direction in which the flexible cord advances compensating the thickness of the coating applied. Current may be supplied to the driving roller by sliding contact 23 on contact wheel 28. Impeller 15 may be fixed to roller 11 to circulate bath. The wires may be of Cu, Al, Fe or bronze, and the coating may be of Sn, Ag or Zn. A plurality of different metal coating baths may be used.
