Abstract

1367007 Filling bottles STORK AMSTERDAM NV 30 May 1972 [10 June 1971] 25145/72 Heading B8T The filling valve 2 of a device for filling bottles 7 with a filling liquid, is cleaned by passing cleaning liquid through it from a tank 1 or passing air into the lower part of the valve 2, while applying a vacuum at 12 to the tank 1, so as to cause air bubbles to move upwards through the cleaning liquid. The air may be admitted by a valve 8 as shown, or via a valve (not shown) for evacuating air from bottles before filling. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the tank 1 is rotatable with an annular table for supporting bottles which are moved downwards during part of the rotation so that air can enter the lower end of the valve 2. In Fig. 3 (not shown), a valve is provided tangentially in the wall of the valve 2 above the seating of the valve member 4 and is opened by the pressure of compressed air supplied by a duct. The valve member 4 may be closed during cleaning.
