Abstract

531,699. Washing machines. NORRIE, L. F. July 20, 1939, No. 21116. [Class 138 (ii)] Fine bubbles of air or inert gas are introduced into a washing receptacle so as to bombard the clothes and circulate the water and clothes in the receptacle. Fig. 4 shows a receptacle 10 supplied with air bubbles from perforated pipes 6 connected through pipes 5b and a valve 14 with an air supply pipe 5, and steam from a supply pipe 7 may be introduced through a valve 15 and pipes 7b to perforated pipes 8. Several receptacles 10 may be arranged side by side in supports 4 and each provided with control valves 14, 15 having a shut-off position and also positions for directing the air and steam to the pipes 6, and at either side of the bottom of each receptacle so that circulation can be effected in either direction or shut off, enabling each receptacle to be controlled separately. A contact tube 9 may be provided to facilitate circulation of the water and clothes. Separate hinged covers 3 are provided for each receptacle.
