881,082. Washing-machines. ATELIERS DE CONSTRUCTION E. D'HOOGE S.p.r.L. Jan. 11, 1958 [March 22, 1957], No. 6600/61. Divided out of 881,081. Class 138 (2). A washing machine comprises a drum rotatable on a horizontal axis inside a fixed tank, having a pipe connecting it to an adjoining machine of a group of washing machines, and having a drain conduit both controlled by an electro-pneumatic valve, a steam inlet controlled by an electromagnetic valve, a first water reservoir fitted on top of the machine connected thereto by a pipe controlled by an electropneumatic valve, a second reservoir mounted on top of the machine for the preparation of washing solutions connected thereto by a pipe controlled by an electro-pneumatic valve, inlet pipes for admitting washing agents into the second reservoir controlled by electro-pneumatic valves and a water inlet pipe opening into the second reservoir controlled by an electromagnetic valve. As shown, the machine comprises a tank 1, and a rotatable drum 2 supported on bearings 4 and 5. A large reservoir 36 above the machine is supplied with water by electro-pneumatic valve 53, while a second smaller reservoir 72, used to prepare solutions of washing agents, takes the form of a glass cylinder 73 with a top plate 75 through which washing agents are supplied via electropneumatic valves with cylinders 79, 80 and 81. A spray nozzle 110 for fresh water is supplied by pipe 111 via electromagnetic valve 112, 113. The level of prepared solutions in reservoir 72 is controlled by float valve 101. Prepared solutions are led into the machine via an electropneumatic valve 117 in pipe 116 which leads into pipe 37 and tank 1. Water is supplied to tank 1 from reservoir 36 by way of electropneumatic valve 38 and pipe 37, while the supply of steam for heating is via electromagnetic valve 128 and pipe 127. The tank is emptied by pump 14 which delivers to filter 17, chamber 19, and electro-pneumatic valve 20 which directs discharged solution to pipe 24 and the next machine of a group, or to pipe 23 and to waste. The operation of the machine and all the electromagnetic and electropneumatic valves are controlled by contact devices of electromagnets whose circuits are individually controlled by a corresponding cam.
