1366766 Boat lowering and raising gear A A PETERS 13 March 1972 11680/72 Heading B7S Apparatus 25 for launching and retrieving a boat 32 comprises a G-shaped davit 26 having an overhanging sheave 68 and having cradling rails 29 shaped to receive the boat's bottom and respectively attached to horizontal arms 28, 30 and upright posts 41, 42 of the davit. The davit and cradling rails pivot about shafts 36, 37 mounted on deck or wharf structure so that the open side of the G-shaped davit is moved sidewardly and outwardly for the boat cradled in rails 29 and suspended from sheave 68 by cable line 60 to hang outwardly from and free from contact with the cradle on lowering of the boat. Hydraulic ram 50 moves the davit about its pivots. Boat launching and retrieval of the boat can be automatically operated.
