Abstract

1365840 Packaging apparatus; wrapping OTTO HANSEL GmbH 29 June 1973 31145/73 Heading B8C In apparatus for continuously wrapping sweets, sweets are removed from open-sided pockets 4 on a rotary feed table 3 by means of rotary ejector fingers 9, the sweets being transported to a wrapping head by chain conveyer 11 with holders 15 each carrying spring-loaded sweet gripper arms 17, 18 operated by cam ring 26. Each sweet is ejected from arms 1, 18 by a plunger 23 whose extension 24 engages cam 28. The wrapping head consists of a continuously rotating casing 30 with peripheral pivots 32 carrying gripping jaws 33 and arms 36. The spacing and curved path of chain 11 between wheels 14, 13 is such that holders 15 align with jaws and arms 33, 36 while wrapping material is continuously drawn from bobbins 38, 39 between the sweet and a counter member 34 slidable between jaws 33. Knife 45 then severs the wrapper. Plunger 23 then ejects the sweet into the wrapping head jaws against counter 34 and the wrapper is folded over the sweet by arms 36 and by fixed blade 37. Finally, the wrapper is closed by assembly 50-56 in which rotating grippers 55 engage and twist the ends of the wrapper. Ejector 57 removes the wrapped sweet from arms 36.
