Abstract

1427682 Sweet wrapping devices TENCHI KIKAI KK 8 April 1974 [7 April 1973] 15421/74 Heading B8C In a sweet wrapping device, sweets are deposited on to a conical rotating disc 2 and are thrown under gravity and centrifugal force to the periphery of the disc where they pass through an opening 3e into a circular guide channel 3 running around the periphery of the disc. The sweets are transported around the guide channel by the periphery of a rotating plate 3c, which forms the base of the channel, to a tangentially arranged feed channel 8. The sweets are propelled to the terminal portion of the feed channel which has an opening for the lateral removal of the endmost sweet (see Fig. 3, not shown). Located in front of the opening is a member 12 adapted to receive a sheet of wrapping paper b fed by rolls 10, 11 and cut from a continuous length by knife 13. Each sweet, with the wrapper on its leading face, is laterally removed from the feed channel by one of a set of gripping fingers 19, 20 mounted radially on a first vertical continuously rotating turret 15 (see Figs. 5 and 6, not shown). The fingers are actuated to their closed and open positions by rollers 26 and 29 which engage a fixed face cam 21 and a fixed grooved cam 22 respectively. The sweets are transferred by the first turret through a first curved path defined by folding members 32, 33, 34, 35 (35, not shown) which serve to fold the wrapper around the leading face and adjacent four faces of each sweet as shown in Fig. 15III, leaving the rear face uncovered. At the end of the first curved path the sweets are taken over by the clamping members 43, 44 of a second continuously rotating vertical turret and transferred along a second curved path defined by folding members 65 and 66 (65, not shown) and past an oscillating pivoting folding member 62 which between them serve to fold the projecting ends of each wrapper on to the as yet uncovered face of its sweet. The members 43, 44 are mounted upon shafts rotatable relative to the turret and the member 43 is fixed whilst the member 44 is pivotable (for the rotating and pivoting mechanism see Figs. 7 and 8, not shown). The members grip each sweet by the side faces covered by folds b 3 , b 4 , b 5 and b 6 and immediately after initial contact with the sweet the members are rotated to cause the uncovered face and the projecting ends of the wrapper to point outwardly where they can be operated on by the members 62, 65 and 66. At the end of the second path the sweets are dumped upon a guide base 72 along which they are propelled in groups a 1 by arms 73 carried by chains 72 and actuated to the raised operative position by a guide bar 74. Successive groups of sweets are propelled laterally along a transverse guide 75 to a, probably, automatic boxing device by a plate 76 pivoted in synchronization with the arrival of the groups.
