1365355 Reciprocating pumps and compressors; vacuum-operated motors G C GRAHAM 2 Nov 1971 50990/71 Headings F1A, F1M and F1N A pump for liquids or gases, e.g. automotive fuel, comprises a double-acting bucket piston 72 reciprocated in cylinder 73 having an inlet valve 86 and an outlet 68. The bucket valve comprises an O-ring 76 controlling flow through clearance 79 and passages 74 and 77. The inlet valve comprises a valve member 86 with an O-ring seal 89, a ring 92 restricting upward movement of member 86 and a stem 91 stabilizing the member. The piston 72 is reciprocated by a diaphragm 17 whose upper and lower sides are alternately subjected to vacuum and atmospheric pressure by a spool valve 113 actuated by the diaphragm at the end of each stroke via a lost-motion rod coupling 23, 36 and a quick-throw toggle assembly 143-151. For pumping gases, a spring-loaded check valve is provided in outlet 68, Fig. 6 (not shown).
