Abstract

1365215 Polyurethane foams BAYER AG 3 May 1972 [3 May 1971] 20558/72 Heading C3R [Also in Division B5] Polyurethane foams are prepared by reacting, in a closed mould, a reaction mixture comprising a polyisocyanate, a compound containing at least two active hydrogen atoms, a blowing agent and a mould-parting agent, which mouldparting agent is a mixture of at least two of the following components A, B and C: (A) a salt of an aliphatic carboxylic acid and an amine which salt contains at least 20 aliphatic carbon atoms, (B) an ester of a monofunctional and/or polyfunctional carboxylic acid, which contains -COOH and/or -OH groups, and has an -OH or acid number of at least 5, and (C) a natural or synthetic oil, fat or wax. The mould-parting agent is used preferably in amount of 0À1 to 25% by weight of the weight of the foamable mixture and each component thereof is present in an amount of at least 5% by weight, based on the weight of the mould parting agent. The salt (A) may contain amide and/or ester groups and may be an oleic acid salt or tall oil fatty acid salt of an amidoamine which is obtained by reacting N,N-dimethylamino-propylamine with oleic acid or tall oil fatty acid. Examples of ester (B) are oleic acid esters, tall oil fatty acid esters and/or train oil fatty acid esters of a polyhydric aliphatic alcohol in which on average at least one OH group is not esterified. The component (C) may be white oil, lanolin and/or paraffin oil. Conventional polyisocyanates, active hydrogen-containing compounds, e.g. polyethers and polyesters, blowing agents, catalysts and surfactants may be used in the preparation of the foams.
