Abstract

1364369 Gate valves; pressure light closures H J JANICH 20 July 1972 [20 July 1971] 33899/72 Headings F2V and F2P A gate valve for closing a flow duct 1, 2, comprises a valve member 4 which is suspended for movement from two guide rails 6 by way of a plurality of support rollers 5. When disposed intermediate the flow duct sections 1, 2, the member is movable into sealing engagement with the terminal portion of duct 1 by way of three screw jacks 18 (of which only one is shown). The aperture through which the valve member is movable when the flow duct is to be opened, is closable by a plate 9 which is movable in a direction parallel to the flow duct, the plate being movable into sealing engagement with the aperture by means of screw jacks, (13, Fig. 3, not shown). The presence of the closure plate obviates the need for a housing extension within which valve member 4 could be accommodated in the open condition of the flow ducts.
