Abstract

1363481 Open end spinning; mounting spindles MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER AG 18 June 1971 [19 June 1970] 28691/71 Heading DID An open end spinning device comprises a by-pass path for air past the rotor shaft bearings 11, 12 whereby very little air flows through the air passages in the bearings when the device is in operation. The rotor is disposed within a housing 5, from which air is withdrawn during operation, with the rotor shaft 4 extending therefrom. The rotor shaft bearings 11, 12 are supported on the housing and comprise a body member 13 having the bearings fitted therein. The bearings 11, 12 have a first face directed towards the rotor and a second face directed towards the drive means 14 for the rotor shaft, the by-pass path for air being effective between these two faces. As shown, the air pressure at adjacent the ends of the bearings is maintained equal by making the air duct leading to the low pressure housing 5 larger than the free space through the bearings. This arrangement prevents air flowing through the bearings and thereby prevents oil &c being carried into housing 5. In alternative embodiments, the air flows in ducts around the bearing supports (Figures 2 and 3 not shown), and the air by pass path is applied to an electrostatic open-end spinning tube (Fig. 4 not shown). The rotor shaft bearings may be mounted on a vibration damper. Specification 1,363,482 is referred to.
