Abstract
1359175 Circulators RCA CORPORATION 15 Oct 1971 [19 Oct 1970] 47999/71 Heading H1W A junction circulator utilizes strip lines of the type comprising co-planar conductors. As shown, three radiating strips 21, 22, 23 and three ground plane members 33, 34, 35 are printed or otherwise deposited on the same surface of a dielectric substrate. The substrate may be composed wholly of a gyromagnetic material, e.g. a garnet or ferrite, or may be made mainly of alumina with a plug of gyromagnetic material arranged beneath the central conductive disc 29. The gyromagnetic element is subject to the transverse field of a permanent magnet (not shown). This magnet may be arranged so that its fringe field coincides with the electric lines of force of the signal field. The radiating lines may be one quarter wavelength long. Alternatively, they may be capacitively loaded, e.g. by means of insulated overlaps in the region of the common junction.
