Abstract

1332177 Microwave circulators T D K ELECTRONICS CO Ltd 14 Sept 1970 [13 Sept 1969] 43856/70 Heading H1W A wide band circulator (#f/f>0À2) comprises a gyromagnetic member 13 for example yttrium iron garnet sandwiched between a ground plate 12 and a circular conductor 14 having radial extensions, and means to apply a magnetic field over a region of the member 13 of greater diameter (D) than that of the circular conductor (d). The magnetic field may be applied over the entire member 13 when the diameters D, d are chosen such that 1À7<D/d<2À1 or the field may be applied to a central portion of member 13 when the diameters are chosen to satisfy the relationship D/d>1À4. The radial extensions extend to the edge of the magnetic member and are of a width approximately equal to the thickness t of the gyromagnetic member 13 and are such as not to act as impedance transformers. Dimensions and tables of numerical data are given.
