Abstract

1302090 Microwave ferrite devices GENERAL ELECTRIC CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [16 March 1970] 12547/70 Heading H1W A microwave stripline comprises a narrow conductor 1 on the surface of a substrate 2 which may be made of a ferrite material or of a dielectric with ferrite strips provided on the surface or in grooves on the surface of the dielectric, and a magnetizable U-shaped core 4, preferably of ferrite material, which bridges the conductor 1. In one embodiment a Mg-Mn ferrite material substrate is used and the device operates as a phase shifter in which the magnetic flux is perpendicular to the conductor 1 and in the plane of the substrate. The device may also be used as a resonance isolator. The ferrite material of the core 4 may have a square hysteresis characteristic whereby it may be switched between opposite states of remanence.
