Abstract
1,128,384. Circulators. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO. Inc. 10 May. 1966 [13 Aug., 1965], No. 20621/66. Heading H1W. One of the gyromagnetic elements of a stripline circulator is replaced by a conductive or partially conductive element. The circulator is of the kind comprising a central planar conductor 16 connected to radial strip lines 13, 14, 15 (or more, if necessary) and two outer ground conductors 10, 11. On one side of conductor 16 is arranged a ferrite or garnet disc 17 and on the other a disc 18 which is made wholly of conductive material or is coated completely or partially with conductive material. This disc electrically connects conductors 10 and 16. It may be made of a high-permeability steel coated with a good conductor or of a magnetic alloy of good conductivity which may be permanently magnetized. Alternatively it may consist of a disc made of a magnetic ceramic surrounded by a copper annulus. The remaining spaces between conductors 10, 16 and 11, 16 may be filled with annuli made of high-permittivity material, e.g. alumina. The discs may be replaced by elements of other symmetrical shapes.
