Abstract

1,102,608. Circulators. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 23 Aug., 1965 [26 Aug., 1964], No. 36057/65. Heading HlW. [Also in Division H3] The gyromagnetic element 1 of a strip-line circulator is provided with a central aperture which serves to contain impedance elements 2 connected between the conductors of the circulator. The impedances are intended to suppress parasitic modes of transmission which tend to have electric fields near the centre of the gyromagnetic element. Inductive, capacitative, conductive or resistive impedances may be used. The invention may be applied to asymmetric structures having two outer (ground) strips 3 and a central strip 4 or to symmetric structures (not shown) using only two strips. A band-pass filter may be arranged in one port of a three-port circulator according to the invention.
