Abstract

1358176 Carpet sweepers S A BRUSH CO Ltd 6 July 1971 [8 July 1970] 31766/71 Heading A4F A carpet sweeper brush 16 is driven from the sweeper supporting wheels 15 via rollers 19 so positioned that in use the brush 16 sweeps the carpet beneath the rollers 19 and over substantially the entire width of the sweeper body 1. The brush 16 has helical rows of bristles 22 between the rollers 19 and additional bristles at the brush ends 18, the bristles adjacent the rollers 19 extending towards the zones radially surrounding them so that areas beneath the rollers are swept. The wheels 15 are mounted by cranks 29 on the dust trays 5 as described in Specification 1358177, and each tray carries a brush cleaning comb 27 and has a portion 8 connected by a hinge 12 to the remainder and attached to the sweeper body 1 by clips 10. A lever 4 operates cam and pull wire mechanism 40, 42 Fig. 2, (not shown) to pivot the trays 5 between open and closed positions.
