Abstract

1358119 Hot water boilers BEONDU AG 15 Dec 1972 [22 Dec 1971] 58111/72 Headings F4A and F4B A gas or oil fired hot water boiler comprises a water space 4 defined between two concentric cylinders 1, 2 of light metal, e.g. aluminium, alloy, a combustion chamber 5 and first flue 6 defined within cylinder 1, and a second flue 6<SP>1</SP> defined on the outside of cylinder 2; axial ribs 7, 8 extending from each cylinder into the flues. The ribs 7 do not extend so far inwardly in the region of the combustion chamber, and the ribs 8 extend outwardly to a third cylinder 9 which defines the outer boundary of the second flue. The gases are directed from first to second flue by a plate 11 which thickens toward its periphery to form narrow passages a and b throttling the gas to the desired flow. The water, which enters space 4 at 16, 16<SP>1</SP> and leaves at 15, can be used for central heating and an indirect heating water coil can be located in the water space for domestic supply; burner 13, in this case, being controlled by a water thermostat. The capacity of the boiler may be adjusted by either employing cylinders of different lengths or by using cylinders 2 of different diameters. Between the cylinder 9 and an outer housing 10 is provided a passage for pre-heating combustion air.
