Abstract

1356887 Fastener driving tool SOC FRANCAISE D'AGRAFAGE INDUSTRIEL 7 July 1972 [9 July 1971] 32002/72 Heading B4C A hand-operated fastener driving tool comprises a fastener driver 7 movable against bias of a spring (not shown) away from a fastener to be driven by clockwise pivoting of a lever 12 effected by application of pressure on a pivoted handle 16. When projections 13 on the lever 12 become disengaged from the driver, the latter will be driven by the spring towards the fastener to be driven. The tool includes a slidable plate 20 which may extend into or be withdrawn from a fastener driver blocking condition. When blocking of the driver is desired, a bar 31 is moved to the position of Fig. 3 so that a spring 30 will via a pivoted member 25 cause the plate 20 to move to the blocking position. The blocked driver will only be released to complete a fastener driving stroke upon application of pressure on part 26 of the member 25. With the bar 31 moved to the position of Fig. 4, the spring 30 will cause the plate 20 to be held in a non-blocking position, so that the tool will be operated only by depressing the handle 16. Movement of the member 25 relative to journals 15 such that the latter are positioned in notches 40 will remove portion 24 of the member 25 from slot 23 in the plate 20 to permit removal of the latter. The driver 7 will impinge against a resilient shock absorbing block (not illustrated) at the end of a fastener driving stroke.
