Abstract

1354066 Pharmaceutical composition LABORATOIRE THERANOL 2 June 1972 [3 June 1971] 25932/72 Heading A5B Pharmaceutical compositions for treating obesity, circulation disorders, rheumatism and cellulitis comprise the product of mixing in aqueous medium elemental iodine, sodium hydroxide and tartaric acid and which contains iodate, iodide, and free iodine. A preferred composition is produced from iodine (3g), sodium hydroxide (4.5g), tartaric acid (8.5g) and distilled water (to 100g). The composition may be prepared by introducing successively into an ampoule or other sealable all-glass container, with stirring, measured quantities of a solution of iodine in aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, an aqueous solution of tartaric acid, and an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, and then sealing the container. The composition is used in the preparation of medicinal baths.
