Abstract
1,206,870. Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of ulcers. SIGMA-TAU INDUSTRIE FARMACEUTICHE RIUNITE S.p.A. 23 Oct., 1968 [31 Oct., 1967], No. 50294/68. Heading A5B. An orally administrable pharmaceutical preparation for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, comprising an aqueous gel containing pectin, aluminium hydroxide gel and magnesium oxide, may be prepared by mixing magnesium oxide with an aqueous colloidal solution of pectin, stirring the mixture until homogeneous, adding thereto an aluminium hydroxide gel, continuing stirring to obtain a homogeneous gel and allowing the gel to age. The aluminium hydroxide gel component may be obtained by precipitation from an aqueous solution of aluminium sulphate with aqueous ammonium hydroxide and ammonium chloride followed by washing to remove ammonium salts from the precipitate and the pectin component may have a methoxyl content of 32-37 % by weight and a residual ash content of less than 5% by weight.
