1353895 Umbrellas FRANK HARLOW ENG Ltd 17 June 1971 [22 June 1970] 30092/70 Heading A4P An umbrella comprises a cover 10, ribs 12 pivoted to a top notch 16 slidable on a stick part 18, struts 22 pivoted to a slider 26, and a stick part 20 selectively securable in alignment with the part 18 or at an angle thereto at a position above the notch 16 when the latter is displaced away from an upper end of part 18, the stick parts being joined together by insertion of a threaded spigot 54 on part 20 into one or the other of threaded bores 40, 42 on part 18. The stick part 20 comprises a rod 48 telescopically received in one end of a tube 46 in the other end of which is an insert 52 with the threaded spigot 54. The bores 40, 42 are provided in inserts 34, 32 in the ends of the part 18. When the stick parts are secured at an angle the notch may abut against the stick part 20 or against a peg 62 inserted in a hole 66 in part 18. The insert 34 may also be provided with an angled bore (56), Fig. 5 (not shown). The bore 42 may be located so that the spigot 54 can be screwed therein with the stick part 20 selectively inside or outside the cover. The part 20 may be constituted by two sections connected by a hinge-joint.
